Hobbies

So what have I been up to? Well I have a couple hobbies that I have written about in my blog, like writing, journaling, making jewelry and things like that but I also have a few new ones (like I have the time for them! My brain gets me in trouble LOL)

The newest hobby of mine is knitting.

I just started learning how to knit! It is really hard at first but practice is really important. Especially since I am learning using only books and YouTube. But YouTube is an amazing resource. You can find lessons on how to do just about anything on that site!

Knitting Basics

That is the video that got me started. The simple directions and the way every step in demonstrated is amazing! I never could have learned only using the book! I haven’t actually made anything, I am still in the practice stage, but hopefully I will be able to start my first actual project soon!

My next new hobby is similar to the first: Crochet.

This hobby is similar to knitting but not at all the same. The difference is that in crochet you use a hook, in knitting you use two long knitting needles. So far, I believe that crochet is much easier to learn at home. Much less stuff to buy as well! My husband is not appreciating the craft store right now! I am still keeping everything to a minimum though. 😉

Of course I am also still writing.

I am constantly writing in my journals, yes I have more than one. I use one for general Bible study, one for my everyday writing, and one for my memories. My memoir is in the works so I have to have a place to write the memories that will be included. I am also using a workbook to help me organize it all. I also have a big planner that is great for keeping track of day to day, I tend to get frazzled if I am not on a schedule. And then of course I have this blog!

Lastly, I am still making my jewelry.

I have some new pieces but not much, because it is hard to keep up with everything! But it is still something that I love doing. And they made great gifts this holiday season!

The hardest part about all of these hobbies is keeping the stuff that I buy at the store to a minimum. I am still very much a minimalist and of course that becomes difficult when it comes to shopping for supplies for a particular project. But I have done a pretty good job at reigning myself in. I just hope that it stays that way. Or that my OCD brain doesn’t get too obsessed and I end up burnt out. That happens way too often for me.

Well, that is what I have been really busy with lately. I hope to find the time to give you great content on my blog a little more often!
